Dilli Styled Baked Aloo Chaat | Spiced Baked Potatoes

Dilli Styled Baked Aloo Chaat | Spiced Baked Potatoes
The Dilli Styled Baked Aloo Chaat recipe is a healthy version of the classic Delhi Street Food that where the aloo is fried. Kuch theekha aur Kuch Meetha but this time Kuch chatpatta with the delicious Baked Aloo Chaat also called as Delhi Aloo Chaat Recipe. Delhi is famous for all kinds of food, specially chaat, papdi, tikki and gol gappas ( pani puri's). Among this list is one of my favorite dish - the delicious Delhi Aloo Chaat.
I love the use of green mint chutney and tamarind chutney in this chaat. I try and make my chaat almost similar to the delhi chaat but difference is that I bake the aloo (potatoes) instead of deep-frying them.If you wish to enjoy the authentic one then you can deep fry the diced potatoes for this chaat. I wanted a little healthier version for my chaat just because I can't control my taste buds hence the baked version. This is an easy, simple recipe and with less ingredients, the chatpati aloo chaat!:).
Ingredients for making the Baked Dilli Styled Aloo Chaat Recipe
  • 3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala
  • juice from one lemon
  • 1 tablespoon of Tamarind Chutney
  • 1 tablespoon of Green Mint Chutney
  • a small bunch coriander leaves, chopped to garnish
Method
  • Preheat the oven to 200 C.
  • Dice the potatoes into small cubes and put oil on our palms and rub the potato cubes gently.
  • Place the diced potatoes on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes, until tender and crisp. Give the potatoes a stir occationaly so it gets cooked evenly. If you notice it get browned faster than it is getting cooked, then reduce the temperature and bake until cooked.
  • When done, remove them from the oven and transfer into a mixing bowl. Add in the remaining ingredients to the potatoes and toss well to combine. Check the spice levels and adjust according to taste.
  • Serve the Aloo Chaat immediately as a tea time snack for weekends along with Masala Chai
Note:
You can alternatively also deep fry these potatoes until golden brown in colour and add the spices the similar way we added for baked potatoes.
