Jhal Muri/Moodi is a delicious crunchy snack found in almost every street corner of Kolkata. Theflavors of this delectable snack is from the special Muri Masala and Mustard Oil that is so closely associated with the vendors. The Jhaal Muri is simple and quick to make, very similar to the Mumbai Bhel, without the chutneys and sev imparting strong flavors from the mustard oil and muri masala. 
Ingredients
  • 3 cups Puffed Rice/Muri/Moodi/Pori/Murmura
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cucumber, chopped fine
  • 1 boiled potato, diced
  • 1 tomato, chopped fine
  • 2 green chillies, chopped fine
  • tablespoons roasted peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons dry coconut (copra), chopped
  • a small bunch of chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon jhaal muri/moodi masala
  • 1 tablespoon mustard oil
Method
  • In a large bowl combine all the ingredients and give it a good stir until well combined.
  • Serve the Jhaal Muri immediately as a tea time snack along with Masala Chai
