Khakra Chaat Recipe
Khakra Chaat is a crispy whole wheat flat bread topped with sprouts, tomatoes, cucumber, sev and chutneys. Khakras are very popular as a snack in a Gujajari home and are now readily available in the market. They are made from of thinly rolled out flavoured whole wheat dough called Theplas that are made crisp over an iron skillet. Topping the crisp flat bread with fresh salad ingredients makes a very refreshing snack.
Makes: 5 Khakra Chaats

Ingredients for the Khakra Chaat
Ingredients for the topping
  • 1/2 cup of mung sprouts
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cucumber
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Method
  • In a large bowl combine all the ingredients for the topping and set aside.
  • Place the khakra pieces on a serving plate; sprinkle the salad mixture evenly on the khakra.
  • Drizzle the Date Chutney and the Dhania Phudina Ki Chutney over the salad mixture and sprinkle some Sev.
  • Finally garnish with coriander leaves and serve the Khakra Chaat immediately as a tea time snack.
