Chintha pandu pachchadi

Chintha pandu pachchadi

This chutney/pachchadi is made with tamarind. This is very tasty and spicy chutney/pachchadi. It will go well with hot rice. This chutney is a good combination for kandi pachadi and raw onion.  With little tamarind and more red chillies preparation of this chutney is very easy.

 Ingredients:

Tamarind-100grms
Red chillies-200grms
Mustard seeds-50grms
Black gram-50grms
Asafoetida-1tsp
Salt- to taste
Oil-4tbsp

Preparation:

Soak 100grms tamarind in little water. Heat 4tbsp oil in a thick bottomed kadai, roast mustard seeds, black gram and asafoetida. When they popup switch off the stove and in the hot popu only add red chillies to it.  Let it cool.
Grind red chillies and little portion of mustard seeds and black gram with salt.
Add soaked tamarind to the above grinded red chillies and grind it. If required add little water and grind it. Add this grinded chutney to the popu. Now the tamarind chutney is ready.
This chutney will take lot of oil and red chillies. If the chutney is not enough spicy we can add some more red chilli powder to it. To add red chilli powder, heat 1tbsp of oil in a kadai and let it cool. Add red chilli powder to the oil,  add this to the chutney. If we add red chilli powder to hot oil, the chutney will lose its colour. This will become black in colour rather red in colour. If the chutney is red colour, it will attract.
