Rasam/Chaaru


Rasam/Chaaru



Ingredients:

Tamarind-2 marble sized balls
Water-500ml
Salt-to taste
Turmeric Powder-1tsp
Rasam Powder-1tbsp

Tadka:

Oil-2tsp
Mustard Seeds-1tsp
Cumin Seeds-1tsp
Fenugreek Seeds-1/2tsp
Curry leaves-4 or 5
Coriander leaves-4 or 5

Procedure:

Soak tamarind in little water for a while. Take the pulp of it. Add water to it. Add salt and turmeric powder.
Allow this to boil.
Now mix 1tbsp of rasam powder in little water and mix this to the boiling water. Again allow this to boil for a 5 minutes.
Heat oil in a kadai add all the ingredients under ‘Tadka’, except curry leaves and coriander leaves, once they started spluttering add this to the boiling rasam, add curry leaves and coriander leaves also. Let the aroma of rasam comes out, switch off the stove. Serve it with hot rice or we can drink as it is also. This soup or rasam is good for digestion.
