Tomato pulihora

Tomato pulihora

It is simple and a variety rice recipe. It can be prepared easily and tastes really good. Those who cannot take tamarind can try this one. It’s main ingredient is tomatoes. For the sour taste we need to add little tamarind. If we get country tomatoes with full of sour taste we need not add tamarind.

Ingredients:
Tomatoes-150grms
Tamarind Pulp-2tbsp
Green chillies-5
Ginger-4″
Curry leaves-handful
Rice-3cups
Salt-to taste
Turmeric powder-1tsp
For tadka:
Ground nuts-2tbsp
Mustard seeds-1tbsp
Bengal gram-2tbsp
Black gram-2tbsp
Red chillies-5 or 6
Cumin seeds-1tsp
Oil-3tbsp

Preparation:

Pressure cook rice. For 1 cup rice add 2 cups of water. Cool rice in a wide plate.

Grind tomatoes and tamarind pulp in a mixer grinder.  Extract juice by filtering it in a separate vessel.

Chop ginger. Split green chillies.

Procedure:

Heat oil in a kadai add ground nuts and fry them. Add black gram and bengal gram and fry them also. When they turning into light brown shade add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chillies. Add asafoetida, green chillies, ginger pieces and curry leaves.Allow them to splutter and keep aside or we can pour this in rice plate.
Again heat the same kadai and pour grounded tomato juice. Add turmeric powder. Allow it to boil. Let it boil till the juice become thick and puree.

Pour this boiled juice into rice and mix well.

Combine and mix well till the juice spread evenly with rice. Enjoy!!
